InstallationThe complete IBO Player setup guide
IBO Player is the one application HoomTV supports, and there is a good reason for that: it runs on virtually every platform in circulation, including the closed-source smart TVs most IPTV apps quietly ignore. The interface is clean, playback is smooth, and the essentials are all there. Here is how to get your line running in about ten minutes.
Before you begin. You need an active HoomTV line. If you have not ordered yet, the $8.99 introductory month gets you credentials within roughly ten minutes, and the rest of this guide applies identically on every plan length.
Step by step
-
Get your HoomTV credentials
Once your order is provisioned we email you three things: a server host address, a username and a password. Keep that message handy — everything below depends on it. Not ordered yet? Start on the introductory month.
-
Install IBO Player on your device
IBO Player is the only application HoomTV supports, and it exists for practically every platform: Android phones, tablets and TV boxes, Amazon Fire TV Stick, Windows 10 and above, macOS, and — importantly — non-Android smart TVs running LG webOS or Samsung Tizen.
-
Find your MAC address and Device Key
Open IBO Player. From the main dashboard select the person icon in the corner. The Device Info panel at the top left shows your MAC address and your Device Key. Write both down exactly as displayed.
-
Log in to the IBO playlist portal
IBO Player uses remote playlist activation, meaning the line is registered on the vendor portal rather than typed into the app. Open the IBO Player website, choose Manage Playlist, and sign in with the MAC address and Device Key from the previous step.
-
Add your HoomTV line
Inside the portal select Add Playlist. Choose the Xtream Codes login method, then enter the host, username and password from your activation email. Leave the EPG field blank unless you have your own guide source — IBO Player pulls our seven-day guide automatically.
-
Save and refresh the app
Hit Save. The portal pushes the line to your device over the air within a few seconds. Restart IBO Player on the TV and your channels, movies and series populate on the dashboard.
-
Fix the Live TV layout
The default Live TV skin crowds channel names under the preview window. From the dashboard click the screen icon beside the Wi-Fi indicator, change the Live Screen Style from Malai to Thai, and save. Channel names get room to breathe and the guide aligns properly. Press the left arrow on the remote to bring categories back.
-
Set up favorites and parental control
Long-press any channel in the list and choose Add to put it in Favorites. Under Settings you will also find Parental Control for locking adult categories behind a PIN, plus Manage Categories for hiding anything you never watch.
Installation notes by platform
The playlist activation is identical everywhere. Only getting the app onto the device differs.
Android phones, tablets and boxes
The simplest route. Download the installation file from the IBO Player site through the device browser, approve the warning about installing from outside the store, and open it. The introductory screen explains the basics — accept it and carry on to the playlist steps above.
Amazon Fire TV Stick
Search the Fire TV store for Downloader and install it, granting media access when prompted. In Downloader's address bar enter code 511693 and press Go. When Amazon blocks the install, open Settings and switch on Install Unknown Apps for Downloader, then run it again.
Windows 10 and later
Grab the 64-bit installer from the IBO Player download page. Windows SmartScreen will stop it because it came from outside the Microsoft Store — click More Info, then Run Anyway. Tick the desktop shortcut box if you want one and finish the installer.
macOS
Download the macOS build and drag the icon into your Applications folder. First launch will be rejected by Gatekeeper. Open System Settings › Privacy & Security, scroll to the security notice at the bottom and choose Open Anyway. That choice is permanent.
LG webOS and Samsung Tizen
No sideloading needed. Open the TV's own app store, use the search icon in the corner and look for IBO Player. Several similarly named apps exist — pick the exact match. Install, launch, and follow the welcome prompt.
Any other platform
IBO Player publishes builds for a wide spread of operating systems including Linux. If your hardware is unusual, ask the support desk before you buy and we will tell you honestly whether it will work.
Getting the most out of the app
Live TV that is actually readable
Out of the box the Live TV section uses a skin that overlaps channel names with the preview window and pushes the guide out of alignment. Switching the Live Screen Style to Thai in the dashboard fixes it in one move, as described in step seven above. Categories then hide by default and reappear with a press of the left arrow.
Favorites and search
With 25,000 channels on the line, curation matters. Long-press any entry to add it to Favorites, and use the in-app search to jump straight to a network by name rather than scrolling. Under Manage Categories you can hide whole country groups you will never open.
Settings worth knowing
- Parental Control — PIN-lock adult categories, essential in a family household.
- Live TV Player / VOD Player — swap the decoder if a specific stream stutters on your hardware.
- Auto Boot on Start — launch IBO Player automatically when the TV or box powers on.
- Clear Cache — the first thing to try if artwork stops loading or the guide looks stale.
- Check for Updates — worth running monthly; the developers ship fixes regularly.
One device per subscription. Your HoomTV line authorizes a single device at a time. Signing in on a second screen will drop the first. If you need two screens running simultaneously, order a second line — the same published prices apply.
Setup questions we get most
Android phones, tablets and TV boxes, Amazon Fire TV Stick, Windows 10 and later (64-bit), macOS, and non-Android smart TVs on LG webOS or Samsung Tizen. That last group is exactly why we standardized on it — most IPTV apps abandon closed-platform televisions.
IBO Player uses remote playlist activation by design: your credentials live on their portal and are pushed to the app. It means you never type a long server string with a TV remote, and you can change lines later without touching the television.
IBO Player is a third-party application with its own one-off license fee after a short evaluation window. It is not billed by HoomTV and it is not included in your subscription price. The fee is a single small payment, not a recurring charge.
No on both counts. IBO Player has no recording function and no multi-screen mode. It is a deliberately lean player, which is part of why playback is as smooth as it is. HoomTV subscriptions are also one device at a time — see the terms of service.
Install the Downloader utility from the Amazon store, then allow it to install unknown apps under Settings › My Fire TV › Developer Options. If Developer Options is missing, open About and press the select button seven times on the remote to reveal it.
Force-close IBO Player and reopen it — the portal push only lands on a fresh launch. If it is still empty, confirm the MAC address you registered matches the device you are actually using. Still stuck? Message the desk and we will screen-share it with you.
Stuck at any step?
The support desk will walk you through it on WhatsApp, day or night. Most setups are resolved inside one conversation.
